The MFC is an all volunteer organization and we’re growing in numbers, both in member-owners and volunteers but we still have more growing to do. Consider the following ways that YOU can help us grow and then go do one, or two, or three… or all of them. Be an MFC supporter!
1) Encourage your neighbors, friends, partner, sibling, or parents to join
If you joined the co-op, then there must be a good reason you joined, right? Sharing your reasoning with your friends, family and neighbors has value for growing our membership. When you talk to your friends about the co-op, you help to build support for the co-op. Your opinion matters to them and growing the membership will get the co-op to opening day sooner.
2) Host an informational potluck about the co-op
Hosting a potluck or informational meeting at your house is an easy way to introduce several friends and neighbors to what we are doing. Invite your friends over to enjoy a meal and have a co-op rep present a short message about why people should join. It’s simple, quick and helps grow our member-ownership. It’s a great way to spread the word about our efforts!
3) Have your business sponsor the co-op and join our member incentive program
Businesses in the area can sponsor the co-op for our events and/or join our member incentive program. Sponsorships can be monetary or in-kind donations. All is tax deductible through our fiscal sponsor, the Northwest Cooperative Development Center. Incentives are a way to create more value in our membership. By giving a small discount to our member-owners you would be helping to create more of an incentive for people to be members of the co-op.
4) Share our events and social media posts with your community
When you see posts and events from our Facebook page, go ahead and click that share button. The more people that do, the more our message and events are spread in social media. This is another quick and easy way to get the word out and keep the co-op relevant. So go to our Facebook page and “like” it if you haven’t already and share our posts.
5) Volunteer for an event, or serve on a committee or the board of directors
Get involved by volunteering! Volunteers are the driving force of our co-op. We are 20 plus strong but we are looking for others to join us in our work. We accomplish our goals of developing the storefront through work on our committees and the board of directors. We also host events and informational tables at other events like the farmers market. If you would like to get involved in helping to open the co-op storefront, then perhaps volunteering is the way to go. Please contact us and let us know how you’d like to help by emailing email@example.com.
6) Bring your friends and neighbors to co-op events
The more people who are exposed to our mission the better. Invite your friends to our events and hopefully they will be so inspired that they will join the co-op! You can find a list of our upcoming events here. We look forward to seeing you at our next event and hearing why you became a member of the co-op!
