Welcome to our new Project Manager!

The Montavilla Food Co-op (MFC) is excited to introduce Colby Clipston as our new Project Manager and newest member-owner! Colby will focus on volunteer recruitment, training, and engagement; events coordination; as well as provide support to our ongoing effort to recruit more member-owners.

Our co-op has made significant progress in recent years and we are well on our way toward 600 members! But as we mature as an organization and continue to expand, our volunteer-led group needs to rely on more professional help to manage all our responsibilities. Colby joins us at a critical time in our development, when we need to make the most of our volunteer talent and continue spreading our message to the community.

Colby comes to MFC with a wealth of experience in community organizing, volunteer management, and program coordination. Spanning his professional work as a National Coordinator for the grassroots volunteer-based Wolf-PAC to his personal life as an Oregon Delegate to the Democratic National Committee, Colby’s ability to create and empower those around him to create the change they want to see in the world is second to none.

“I’m thrilled to shift my focus back to the neighborhood I grew up in,” said Clipston. “It’s about time we bring all the talk of food access, good jobs, and strong community out of the realm of rhetoric and into reality.”

MFC leadership is thrilled that Colby has joined our team, and we are looking forward to learning from his vast experience. “From my first conversation with Colby, I was struck by his energy and passion for organizing people around a common cause,” said Amanda Lamb, the President of the MFC Board. “Colby is joining us a pivotal time in our growth, and this investment in volunteer coordination will allow us to expand our reach while ensuring a positive experience for our volunteers.  Volunteers are absolutely essential to the effort to build a community-owned grocery store in our community; Colby will help us ensure everyone who volunteers is well-trained, well-utilized and well-recognized.”

Welcome, Colby, to the MFC family!
